East Coast Commune at ECP: Gorgeous Cafe With a Fun-Packed Play Area

As per menu · All ages · East Coast Park

east coast commune

Gelato arrives at the table and two boys go completely quiet. That’s the East Coast Commune effect. Before that, they’ve already finished their kids’ meals and been through the play corner.

A proper cafe where kids get their own play corner and kids’ menu, and parents actually finish their mains. Gelato from $5.90, a huge nursing room, and East Coast Park’s huge playground close by. Easy yes for an East Coast weekend.

Indoor Play

The revamped layout is spacious, and the new kids’ play corner is the star. It kept the boys busy while we ate, and it’s well designed and properly engaging, not an afterthought in a corner.

Parents get the bonus of sitting down with coffee while the kids play within sight.

The atmosphere inside is really good. Step in from the open stretch of East Coast Park and it feels like a different place. It’s a proper haven from the heat.

Outdoor Play

Once everyone has cooled down, East Coast Park’s huge playground is right outside for the next round of running around.

Heading for the sand? Their Picnic Boxes are a full set you can buy with food and picnic mats, so you can walk straight to the beach. See what’s in one on their Instagram post.

Food and Drink

The kids’ menu was a hit with the boys. The mains were good enough that I kept eating my own, which doesn’t happen often with two boys at the table.

You’ll also find specialty coffee, cold-pressed juices (the juice was heavenly), hearty loaded sandwiches, cakes and fresh bakes. And of course the gelato, which the boys devoured.

Retail

There’s a retail corner with toys, books, homey bits and even pet food. Dangerous with kids in tow, so decide your budget before you walk in.

For Parents

The nursing room is huge, a real plus if you’re out with a baby. Outdoor seating is pet-friendly.

Planning a birthday bash or a work function? They host celebrations of any size.

Final Thoughts

Fun for the kids, relaxing for the adults, and the food holds up. We’d go back, especially for a weekend morning before the beach.

What’s your go-to East Coast Park pit stop with kids?
