Our boys walked into the Pirate Sea theme room and just froze. Double-decker bed inside, then step outside and there’s a huge pool with huge slides and a full outdoor playground. Bags dropped, zero interest in unpacking. That was the first ten minutes of our 2 nights in Melaka, and it set the tone for the whole stay.
Funseekers’ Verdict: A full-fledged resort where you can stay in and do everything inside. Pool with huge slides, playground, indoor kids lounge, amazing breakfast, themed rooms, movie night and more. Stay at least 3 days, 2 nights felt too short.

Sprawling Pool with Huge Slides
Honestly, this is where we spent most of our time. The pool is huge, and the slides are even bigger. The boys went down again and again and again, and we lost count after a while. Then they wanted to try the adult pool, so we put their floats on and let them go. Now they could keep doing cannonballs in the big pool, non-stop. Parents, bring your patience and get your phone camera ready.
The pool bar has a full menu of food and drinks, so you won’t go hungry at the pool. Fries, fish and chips, cocktails, fried rice, you name it. Lounge chairs are lined up around the pool, and towels are at the pool counter, so no need to lug your own from the room. Forgot swimsuits or floats? There’s a vending machine beside the pool counter that sells both.
Pool hours are 8am to 8pm. We went in at 8am and the water wasn’t cold, so early birds are fine.

Theme Kids Room – Pirate, Jungle, Princess Castle, Safari
The Signature Family Room comes in 4 themes: Castle, Safari, Jungle and Pirate Sea. You can see all four on the hotel’s Signature Family Room page. We stayed in the Pirate Sea one. It comes with one queen bed and a double-decker bed, and the star is the double-decker bed. The boys fought over the top bunk for about two seconds, then just took turns.
We also got the connecting King Bedroom, so the two rooms together fit up to 5 comfortably. The best part is the balcony with direct access to the pool. Walk out and you’re at the water. No lift, no lobby, no wet footprints through the corridor. So good. There’s also a bathtub, which is handy for the little ones after pool time.
The kids get proper kids’ touches: kids’ toiletries, kids’ in-room slippers, safe eco-tap drinking water, and a TV with kids’ channels (38 channels in total, including Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon). The boys even caught Fast & Furious 2 on TV.
For the adults, there’s a proper work table, rain shower, robes and slippers, a 55″ smart TV and a minibar. We ordered in-room dining through the app, which is so easy when everyone’s tired and nobody wants to move.

Kids Club – Best Pick for The Kids
Open Mon to Thu 9am to 6pm, and Fri to Sun and public holidays 8am to 6pm. No food or drinks allowed inside.
The boys went straight for the superhero masks, then spent ages in the mini camping tents. There are bean bags everywhere, and many of them face a TV, so it’s basically a mini cinema corner. Lots of books, toys, board games and a colouring area, so when they get bored of one thing, there’s always another.
It gave us a bit of breathing room. The boys kept going back, even after the pool.

Full Playground and Outdoor Games
There’s a full outdoor playground, and it’s huge. Big enough for kids to run around properly and burn all that energy. There are also giant outdoor games like chess (not a full chess board though 😆) and snakes and ladders. The boys love it.

Kids Passport Activities Around The Hotel
This was the boys’ favourite. You get a passport, then run around the resort doing activities to collect stamps. Once done, redeem a free ice cream at the lobby (11am to 7pm daily). It’s a clever way to get kids exploring the whole resort. They had zero complaints about walking.

Resort Activities
There’s always something on, so no dull moments. On weekend mornings there’s a 7am stretching class at the pool lounge and 9.30am aqua zumba at the pool. Sat 8pm has a fire show at the pool lounge. Fri and Sat 7.30pm has a live band by the pool. On Saturday mornings there’s also soap bubble art for the little ones.
Fri 8pm is movie night at the Level 1 lobby lounge. We caught Planes, and the kids sat through the whole thing. There’s also table soccer and a pool table (snooker). We rode their buggy around the resort too, and the boys loved it.

Sumptuous Breakfast Buffet
Breakfast is the real star. The kids get their own kids’ bar, with amazing mini doughnuts, cereals and cupcakes. The boys kept going back for more. The adults get international cuisine, so everyone finds something, from Western and Chinese to Asian fusion. We’d give the food 10/10.
Then there’s the teh tarik show. Someone pulls the tea right in front of you, and the kids just stare. The teh tarik tastes super amazing too, not just for show.

Club Lounge for the Adults – Unlimited Alcohol
Club Lounge runs 5pm to 7pm, with evening cocktails, light bites and free-flow drinks. That means beer, cider, and hard liquor you pour yourself with a mixer. After a full day of chasing kids, this was exactly what we needed.
Need a massage? There’s Terra Spa, and they have a promo for a 1-hour full body spa.

Good to Know & Amazing Views
The resort has two wings, Palm and Garden. Shuttle buses run to and from A’Famosa Outlet, Safari Wonderland, the Water Theme Park and the Golf Resort. Free parking for in-house guests.
The Grand Ballroom is also open for booking, if you’re planning an event, a wedding or a big celebration.

Final Thoughts
A huge hotel with so many activities catered just for kids. There’s so much inside the resort that we barely left it. Definitely a good staycation for the family in Melaka. You can also explore the nearby A’Famosa, Melaka’s signature travel destination, with its water theme park, and a safari theme park with cheetahs, tigers and more. Don’t come for one night. We’d go back, and next time we’ll stay at least 3 days and try a different theme room.
Which of the 4 theme rooms would your kids pick?
